Inspection Frequency
Clause 51(1)(b) of Regulation 851 requires the load-handling capability to be assessed, after the initial examination, "as often as necessary but not less frequently than recommended by the manufacturer and in any case at least once a year". In general, this requirement would be met with examinations carried out after every 2000 hours of use.

Structural Testing and annual Inspections on Scissor lift and other Aerial devices
Structural inspections are to be carried out in the following cases:

Effective January 1, 2003 all scissor lift and boom type aerial devices are to be structurally inspected 10 years after date of manufacture and every 5 years thereafter.

Immediately after an incident that could affect the structural integrity or stability of the aerial device

After an ownership change
